Spanish Vowels

Today we are going to learn the most basic thing you need to know to learn Spanish, the vowels and their pronunciation.

In Spanish there are 5 vowels: A, E, I, O, U.

The “a” is pronounced like the “a” in the word “father.”

The “e” is most often pronounced like the “a” in the word “date,” except that it is shorter and crisper.

The “i” is pronounced like the “ee” in the word “see,” except that the sound is shorter.

The “o” is pronounced like the “o” in the word “no,” except that the sound is shorter.

The “u” is pronounced like the “ue” in the word “due,” except that the sound is shorter.

It’s easy! Just 5 sounds, that’s all! And the best of all, the Spanish vowels, contrary to English, are pronounced always with the same sound.
